Privacy Policy
For the Word Guess and Count Doku apps. Last updated 15 October 2026.
These apps are made in Australia by Lee Arnould. This policy says exactly what the apps collect, why, and what you can do about it. It is deliberately short, because the apps collect very little.
The short version. You do not give us your name, your email or your phone number. The apps create an anonymous account for you so your scores and streaks survive a reinstall. Advertising is served by Google. Payments, if you remove the ads, are handled by Google Play — we never see your card.
The account the app creates
On first launch the app creates an account for you automatically. It is identified by a random identifier generated on your device. You are not asked to register, and no email address or name is required to play.
Accounts in these apps are separate from each other and from every other app. Playing Word Guess does not create or affect an account anywhere else, and nothing you do here is added to any other app's scores or standings.
What is stored, and why
- Your play: the guesses you make, whether you won, your score and when you played. This is what produces your statistics, your streak and your place in a daily challenge.
- The random identifier described above, so the same device returns to the same account.
That is the whole list. The apps do not ask for contacts, photos, files, location or microphone access, and do not read anything else on your device.
Advertising
The free version shows advertising supplied by Google AdMob: a banner while you play and a full-screen advertisement between games. To do this, Google may use your device's advertising identifier and information about the advertisements you have seen. Google's handling of that data is governed by its own policy:
You can reset or delete your advertising identifier in your device's settings, under Privacy or Google → Ads.
Removing advertising
The one-off purchase that removes advertising is made through Google Play. Google handles the payment and tells the app only whether the purchase exists. We never receive or store your card details, billing address or Google account.
Because Google holds the purchase against your Google account, it is restored free on any device you sign into with that account.
Notifications
If you turn notifications on, the app sets a daily reminder that the challenge is waiting. The reminder is scheduled on your own device and nothing is sent to us or to anyone else to produce it. Turning the switch off cancels it.
Where the data is held
Game results are sent to our own server and stored in a MongoDB database. They are kept while the account is in use. Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared with anyone other than the service providers named in this policy.
Children
These apps are not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly create accounts for them. If you believe a child has been playing and you want the account removed, write to the address below and it will be deleted.
Your choices
- Deletion: email the address below and ask for your account to be deleted. Since the account is anonymous, include the device you played on so the right one is found.
- Advertising: reset your advertising identifier in device settings, or buy the ad-free upgrade.
- Stop everything: uninstalling the app ends all collection.
Changes to this policy
If the apps start collecting something new, this page will say so before they do, and the date at the top will change.
